Sublime
Sep 6, 2012 - Nov 3, 2012
The works of James Boatman invite contemplation in active movement while ultimately resisting absolute definitions. The strikingly poetic sculptural vignettes of porcelain women by Alexandra de Kempf emerge from the symbiosis between clay and creative energy. Evolving out of a street art metamorphosis, Mark Mayer organizes color and form into saturated compositional messages. Artistic inspiration and interpretations by Natalia Ra reflect on connections in life with each other in all respects, a harmonious search with unitary connections, showing the interplay of events. Wing Wongs photographic work captures the relations between light, line, form and shape, regardless of a subject matter. Mele de la Yglesia’s creation of lines, forms, and shapes are modeled on those of nature. The crowded, and jumbled appearance of the pieces give the impression of a mysterious excess. Art and inspiration create the essence of the sublime.
