Art & Passion
Jan 28, 2016 - Mar 28, 2016
What is art without passion? Passion is a primal emotion that connects human beings to nature, and the driving force that has propelled humans to invent the arts. Passion can embody many forms, material or abstract. Passion is not the middle ground, but runs the extreme gamut of either vibrant color or stoic minimalism. What unites the members of ART & PASSION are themes touching upon the evolution of humanity and its place in nature.
FELLINI Gallery presents a group exhibition ART & PASSION, an exhibition of new works by Aimef, Dongki Ha, Hideaki Ota, Paula Rosa, Masaki Umetsu, Rimi Yang, and Noortje Zijlstra. The sun and sea inspire Aimef's vision of beauty and day-dreaming. Dongki Ha’s sculptures represent how the Earth is a fruit from the tree of the universe. The black & white photographs of Hide capture a perfect moment of dramatic daily life where the past is captured in the present. Surreal digital manipulations by Paula Rosa centralize on the deconstructed human body, uniting it as housing for industrial structure that are embedded before skies of infinitely pluming smoke. Masaki Umetsu’s colorful light displays examine the nature of existence in its visible and invisible dimensions. Rimi Yang's colorful and nostalgic renditions of classic female archetypes transport the viewer to a distant land and time. Noortje Zijlstra simultaneously celebrates the dichotomy of beauty and tragedy of nature via the lost art of taxidermy.
