USAWinston Torr
Winston Torr was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up in a Chinese-American household in Los Angeles, California. He received a BFA from California Polytechnic State University in Pomona in 2000. Aiming to detect the silent dialogue between figure and space, Torr’s works portray figures, which hint at decay, yet carry the hard copy imprints of our time and culture utilizing the social data: newspapers. Scarification slash gestures across the figures against the re-assembled pieces represent a process of elimination as well as freedom from societal crucifixion. Torr’s inspirational basis is his North American, European, and Asian heritage. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany.
