Tina Zimmermann
Tina Zimmermann was born in the Bodensee area of Germany and studied Industrial Design and Creative Arts at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and San Francisco State University.
In her digital collage series “organic media art” Zimmermann collects, arranges and re-contextualizes natural imagery into multi-layered surreal compositions. Through manipulation with digital means she enhances and fuses elements of natural imagery whereby allowing creatures and scenarios to evolve that contain familiar elements, yet suggest an otherworldly strangeness. Her works are simultaneously futuristic and archaic. In addition to Zimmermann’s work in digital collage, her creative repertoire includes site-specific installations, complex video mapping projections, video stage design for theatre and opera plays, live VJ-sets for techno clubs and festivals as well as sculptures, paintings and drawings.
