RussiaTanya Kucheryavaya
Tanya Kucheryavaya was born in Moscow, 1990. As the result of the current political and ideological climate in Russia, the artist lives and works ins Portugal, looking over Lisbon. She graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute, and Institute of Business and Design; then studied classic soviet art at Moscow State Academic Art School in Memory of The Year 1905. The young talented multidisciplinary artist keeps searching for the frontiers and crossing points between art, design, architecture and scenography. For a great part, she is inspired by the esthetics of orthodox Christian rituals and visuals, but also by the mise en scene of classic silent movies from the beginning of celluloid times.
Kucheryavay's current series of work, Salmon Dance, represent her fascination for the unknown afterlife, or so to speak, the second life – seeing it as a recycling of the human body so that it can give life again and give a certain purpose to death. The collage work exists side by side with her work in interior design, architecture, painting, drawing and photography. It shows the completeness of the artist, and her hunger to grow.
