Rebecca Jobson lives and works from her studio situated in Sligo in the North West of Ireland. Before becoming a Visual Artist, she worked as a Theatre Designer for ten years. She is also an Art Psychotherapist and co-founded the Sligo Arts Psychotherapy Centre in 2012, one of the first of its kind in Ireland. Rebecca has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her works are held in private and public collections in Ireland, UK, USA, France and Germany.
Statement
As both a Visual Artist and Art Psychotherapist, Rebecca is engaged in and concerned with social issues that involve the taboo, the marginalized and the hidden. Her work seeks to explore and express the psychological and emotional impact on the individuals involved, frequently exploring loss, pain, impermanence and transition. Currently her work is an exploration of female infertility and the mother identity in women.
