Nicolas Balcazar

Raised in Peru but born in Berlin in 1985, Nicolas Balcazar’s artistic journey began with a simple digital camera. When Nicolas got his hands on an old analogue SLR he discovered double exposures and after obtaining a Nikon SLR of the digital kind, his works became even livelier.  His first solo exhibition, titled Sehnsucht began in 2012; Sehnsucht continues to make appearances throughout Germany.

Artist Statement

Balcazar presents us with an intriguing collection of photos, featuring both portraiture and a range of landscapes. His use of double exposure creates unique imagery that works to combine both reality and imagination.  His photos hint at human life as a transitory state, whilst the background landscapes remain unchanging.
