JapanAlice Morishita
Alice Morishita was born in Tokyo, between a Japanese mother and a Taiwanese father. Attending an international school and traveling through many different countries, the multi-cultural environment has definitely influenced her creative
work. For this, Alice Morishita has always had strong interests in ethnicity, rituals, myths, cultural movements and its relationships. She works with mixture of medias where she expresses her subtle force of colors and her sensitive eye for structure and detail. Pointillism appears frequently in Alice Morishita's work, which adds a mystical, primitive atmosphere to her world. Her work expresses a lot of internal emotions and thoughts into a symbolic figure, with her own story behind it.
Statement:
"I believe people make culture and culture makes the people. Through visual creation, I process different feelings, thoughts, ideas, and philosophies. I feel that a strong belief building up will eventually transform itself to what we see as culture. I approach this in a very primitive form using ink and nib pen."
